I interviewed
It seems that Shoko's school went for longer in the day than my high school. Hers went from 7:30 to 4:30 and I think mine was from 7:30 to 2:30. I didn't like being in school 7 hours let alone 9 so I'm glad I didn't go to school in Japan! Though she said she went to a Catholic school so I'm not sure whether that is the normal school hours. That would be something to learn more about. I was surprised that her school had so many rules and that she wasn't allowed to have a boyfriend or a phone, though she had both. Way to break the rules Shoko! :P I'd be interested to learn more about the quality of the school meals and how students interact during school.

ReplyDeleteJapanese high schools are crazy-serious. Itou-san said that, including club activities, her school day went from 7am to 7pm. They even forbid having boyfriends? How on earth do they enforce something like that?
My high school didn't have a cafeteria so everybody had to bring their own lunch or buy sandwitches at school.
ReplyDeleteDo US high schools normally have a cafeteria? Do many students eat at cafeteria or do they bring their onw lunch?
My high school had a cafeteria and I believe that most US high schools are the same. With my high school you would deposit money into an account and you could go through and pick out various items that had prices listed. Then you would check out and the total would be deducted from your account. You could also pay right at the check out. Most students would eat the cafeteria food rather than bring their own lunch.
I'm catholic and I never saw a catholic church in Japan, let alone a catholic school. I'd like to know more about the differences between japanese catholic high schools and japanese public high schools. Maybe not having a boyfriend was a Catholic thing as well as focusing on school work. My grandma was strict catholic and never would have agreed to me dating in High school!!
